Suggested Cleaning Procedures (For Exterior and Interior)

  • There are varying opinions of about the best practices for cleaning your door hardware. As a result, please note these are suggested procedures and will provide you with the best results for maintaining your hardware for many years. Particular care should be taken to avoid paint residue, paint thinners and all cleaning agents, as they will facilitate the erosion of your protective coatings and subject the finish to oxidization and discoloration, voiding any and all warranties** available to the original residential user of Weslock products.

Grade 2 – Molten Bronze, Elegance and Traditionale Products

Bright Chrome and Satin Chrome
Primary
1) Wipe with a soft damp cloth.
2) Wipe off with a soft dry cloth.
Alternatives
1A) Wipe with a soft damp cloth and mild soap.
1B) Wipe off with a dry soft cloth.
2A) Wipe with a soft damp cloth and light layer of toothpaste, if real dirty.
2B) Wipe off with a soft dry cloth.
Oil Rubbed Bronze and Black
Primary
1) Apply a minimal amount of vegetable oil by wiping with a soft cloth.
2) Be careful not to apply too much oil as the film will come off on your hands.
3) Then rub with a paste wax.
All Other Finishes
Primary
1) Wipe with a soft damp cloth.
2) Wipe off with a soft dry cloth.
Alternatives
1) Wipe with a soft damp cloth and mild soap, if real dirty.
2) Wipe off with a soft dry cloth.

Grade 3 – Premiere Essential Products

All Finishes (Lacquered and/ or Clear-Coated Finishes)
Primary
1) Wipe with a soft damp cloth.
2) Wipe off with a soft dry cloth.
Alternatives
1) Wipe with a soft damp cloth and mild soap, if real dirty.
2) Wipe off with a soft dry cloth.
